Leaders from Westchester County Government will participate in the fifth annual Westchester Women’s Summit on March 14 in White Plains, marking Women's History Month. The event will feature several prominent figures, including Catherine Borgia, Lara Fenig Stangel, Joan McDonald, Deborah Novick, Kathleen O’Connor, and Robi Schlaff.
County Executive Ken Jenkins is set to deliver welcoming remarks. He stated: “This is a wonderful opportunity to showcase the outstanding female leaders who drive progress in Westchester County. Their dedication and expertise are invaluable assets to our government and our community, and highlighting their work inspires the next generation of females to lead with confidence and vision.”
The summit aims to inspire and empower women through workshops focusing on physical and mental health, financial empowerment, family dynamics, and career growth. Highlights include a keynote address by Juju Chang from ABC News' Nightline and networking opportunities.
Catherine Borgia expressed her enthusiasm about moderating a panel titled "Don’t Sit Back: Advocate for What You Need." She said: “It is critical for every woman to have the confidence and ability to advocate for what is important to them.”
Lara Fenig Stangel will moderate a panel on mental health advocacy. She remarked: "Together, we’ll explore ways to break the stigma, offer support, and empower others to prioritize mental well-being."
Joan McDonald emphasized the importance of leadership qualities in traditionally male-dominated industries: “Our obligation is to lead the way and mentor others – women and men.”
Deborah Novick highlighted financial literacy as key for women’s success both personally and professionally.
Kathleen O’Connor shared her experience in advancing within Parks and Recreation: “I’m excited to get the chance to share my experience working in a field that is traditionally male-dominated with women.”
Robi Schlaff noted that the summit allows Westchester women an opportunity for learning and networking while also supporting survivors of domestic violence year-round.
