Westchester County Executive Ken Jenkins has expressed his condolences following the death of former U.S. Congresswoman Nita Lowey. In a statement, Jenkins acknowledged Lowey's significant contributions to the county and her impactful career in public service.

"Westchester County mourns the passing of former U.S. Congresswoman Nita Lowey," said Jenkins. He highlighted her dedication as an advocate for the county, describing her as "a mentor, a friend and always a beacon of hope."

Lowey served as a U.S. Representative from 1989 until 2021, during which she was known for championing integrity and honesty in government. She made history by becoming the first woman to chair the House Appropriations Committee, marking her tenure with efforts to break barriers and improve lives.

Jenkins concluded by noting that Lowey's "commitment to public service will continue to inspire and guide us."
