As Yom Kippur commences, Jewish families in Westchester County and globally are gathering to observe this significant day of atonement. County Executive George Latimer has expressed his sentiments on the occasion.
Latimer stated, "As Yom Kippur begins, Jewish families across Westchester County and around the world will come together to mark a day of atonement, reflection and prayer. This sacred and solemn holiday is a time to step back from our everyday routine, look inward, and seek forgiveness for the drawbacks in our own lives."
He extended his best wishes to those observing the holiday: "To all who observe Yom Kippur, may your prayers bring you peace, and your reflections lead to growth and understanding. I send my warmest wishes to our Jewish community and hope for a meaningful day and an easy fast. G’mar Chatimah Tovah."
Yom Kippur is regarded as one of the holiest days in Judaism, characterized by fasting, prayer, and introspection.
