Westchester County Executive Ken Jenkins inaugurated a new facility for the Westchester County Employee Assistance Program (WCEAP), aimed at providing mental health support services to county employees, municipal workers, and emergency service personnel. The facility offers a private environment for thousands of individuals seeking help with issues such as anxiety, depression, personal growth, family matters, and more.
Jenkins emphasized the importance of employee well-being: “Our administration takes the health and safety of our Westchester County employees very seriously, and we recognize how hard they work to provide essential services to our residents. Our colleagues are people first, and our goal is to increase employee happiness, wellness and productivity."
The program is managed by the Westchester County Department of Community Mental Health (DCMH) and provides free confidential services including intake assessments, short-term counseling, and referrals. Since its expansion in 2023, WCEAP has broadened its offerings to include critical incident response and intervention.
Michael Orth, DCMH Commissioner, acknowledged Jenkins' dedication: “I want to thank County Executive Jenkins for his continued steadfast commitment to the employees of Westchester County... He continues to show that he cares about the well-being of the entire County workforce."
In 2024 alone, nearly 600 employees reached out for assistance through EAP. The program also conducted numerous training sessions benefiting county and municipal staff.
Lara Fenig Stangel, Director of WCEAP expressed gratitude towards her team: “Thank you to everyone here today and special thanks to the EAP team that works so hard..."
