Westchester County Executive George Latimer and the Hispanic Advisory Board have announced a new comprehensive survey targeting the Latino community. This initiative, conducted in collaboration with Pace University, represents the first needs assessment of its kind in over two decades.

The survey aims to gather insights and data from the Latino community within Westchester County, addressing various aspects such as education, healthcare, employment, housing, and social services. The last assessment, conducted more than 20 years ago, highlighted the necessity for updated information to better understand and address the evolving needs and challenges faced by the Latino population.

Latimer stated: “The Latino community is an integral part of Westchester County. This survey will provide us with essential data to enhance our programs and services, ensuring that we meet the current needs of our Latino residents. We are committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for all.”

Hispanic Advisory Board Chair Dr. Carmen Martinez Lopez added: “It is crucial to have up-to-date information to effectively advocate for and support our community. This survey, in partnership with Pace University, will allow us to gain a deeper understanding of the experiences and needs of the Latino population in Westchester County. We encourage all Latino residents to participate and share their insights.”

Pace University’s involvement brings academic rigor and expertise to the project, ensuring the collection of high-quality, actionable data. The survey results will guide the development of policies and programs aimed at improving the quality of life for the Latino community in Westchester County.

Pace University Professor Rebecca Tekula commented: “Collaborating on this survey underscores our commitment to community-engaged research in Westchester County. We are proud to partner on this effort to capture the voices and experiences of Latino residents toward informing and improving service delivery.”

The Hispanic Advisory Board and Latimer urge all Latino residents to take part in this important survey. The collective input will be instrumental in shaping future community support and services.
