On or after May 15, 2024, the City of Mount Vernon will submit a request to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for the release of Economic Development Initiative, Community Project Funding funds under the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2022, as amended, for the Sewage Cleanup Project to Promote Equity and Resilience. The project aims to improve the infrastructure of Mount Vernon through cleaning and inspecting sewers, eliminating illicit discharges, and rehabilitating stormwater and sanitary sewer mains, connections, manholes, and catch basins. These activities are expected to enhance water quality, reduce sewer overflows, and improve infrastructure in the Outfall 24 service area, benefiting a significant portion of the city.###
