County Executive George Latimer, Department of Social Services Commissioner Leonard Townes, and Noel D'Allacco-Ammirati are all enthusiastic about the upcoming Operation Prom Dress and Tuxedo Giveaway at the Westchester County Center from April 26 to April 28.
In its 20th year, the event aims to provide high-quality, stylish prom attire for high school students in Westchester County. County Executive George Latimer expressed, "Prom night should be a joyful and exciting experience for every child in Westchester. No child should have to stay home because they can't afford an outfit." The County is proud to partner with Operation Prom to ensure that all students can participate in this annual rite of passage.
Department of Social Services Commissioner Leonard Townes highlighted the financial burden prom expenses can place on families, stating, "Thanks to Operation Prom, no family in Westchester has to tell a child they can't go to the prom because they can't afford a dress or a tux." He emphasized the positive impact of the event on students' self-esteem and confidence.
Founder of Operation Prom National Network, Inc., Noel D'Allacco-Ammirati expressed gratitude for the ongoing support from Westchester County, saying, "Having partners in County government who truly care about families in need has been an essential part of allowing us to do what we do."
The event will also include free Bee-Line bus trips to the County Center for participating students, making prom attire more accessible to all. Operation Prom's initiative continues to make prom dreams a reality for students in Westchester County.
