The City of New Rochelle is proud to announce its first annual New Rochelle Pride Festival, which kicks off in downtown Ruby Dee Park and adjacent Lawton Street on June 10th from 2:00 pm to 9:00 pm. The Pride Celebration will coincide with the City's Summer Sizzle Concert Series, offering a free performance of Philadelphia Freedom: A Tribute to Elton John, with music starting at 7pm. While guests to Ruby Dee Park are enjoying the attractions, whether it’s a fun skate around on the roller skating rink or listening to live tunes from classic favorites, they can enjoy offerings direct from their community - featuring the best from local food vendors such as Carrito, Leila Empanadas, Sweet Spice, Hawaiian Shaved Ice, and more.
This colorful and exciting event – part of New Rochelle’s ongoing Summer Sizzle Concert Series – promises to bring together community members, allies, and visitors to commemorate and embrace the city’s LGBTQ+ community. Attendees will have the opportunity to sample local cuisine from food trucks, roller skate, snap photos at the photo wall, hear live performances from local musicians and a DJ, and engage in other family-friendly activities.
"New Rochelle is a welcoming, inclusive community in which all people are encouraged to be their true selves," said Mayor Noam Bramson. "By celebrating Pride Month in conjunction with our Summer Sizzle Concert Series, we bring our city together and affirm that love is love."
The City’s Mobile City Hall will also be available during the Pride Celebration. This initiative allows residents to interact directly with their local government and access city services. The Mobile City Hall program will be staffed by the City’s personnel who will provide relevant information, directly answer questions, and assist attendees with various city-related matters.
Community organizations such as the Westchester County Human Rights Commission, New Rochelle Pride, Humane Society of Westchester, Montefiore Medical Center, Center Lane, and The Loft will also be on site.
“Ruby Dee Park will be the center of a joyous celebration of diversity, inclusivity, and love for Pride in New Rochelle," said City Manager Kathleen Gill. "We are thrilled to honor and support the LGBTQ+ community, recognizing their invaluable contributions to the vibrant tapestry of New Rochelle. This special evening, within this important month, embodies the spirit of acceptance and unity that defines our city.”
