Westchester County held a flag-raising ceremony at the Michaelian Office Building in White Plains to celebrate Albanian Heritage Month. The event aimed to honor the contributions of the Albanian community to Westchester County and beyond.
County Executive George Latimer remarked, "We proudly raise the Albanian flag to recognize the Albanian community and their contributions to Westchester County. We are grateful for the strength and spirit they bring to our community, and we are proud to honor their heritage and history this month."
Deputy County Executive Ken Jenkins added, "Westchester's Albanian community is an essential part of our County's diverse fabric. Our annual flag-raising ceremony allows us to celebrate their rich heritage and acknowledge the important role Albanian Americans play in making Westchester County a welcoming and inclusive place."
Board of Legislators Chairman Vedat Gashi expressed, "As an Albanian American, this ceremony holds deep personal meaning. This ceremony is not only a celebration of the contributions of the Albanian community in our County but also a reflection of the unity and pride of Albanian Americans celebrating Albanian Heritage Month."
Legislator Emiljana Ulaj stated, "I am incredibly proud to see Westchester County recognize my community's contributions with this flag-raising. Albanian Americans bring a deep sense of pride, resilience, and unity to the fabric of Westchester, and it's heartening to know that our heritage is celebrated and valued."
Albanian Heritage Month takes place annually worldwide in November, aligning with Albania's Declaration of Independence on November 28, 1912. Westchester County joins this commemoration by acknowledging the ongoing contributions of its Albanian residents.
