YONKERS, NY – Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano today announced N-95 masks are now available at all four Yonkers Police Precincts, free of charge, in an effort to combat poor air quality conditions caused by the Canadian wildfires. The Yonkers Office of Emergency Management today received over 4,000 N-95 masks provided by Governor Kathy Hochul and the New York State Department of Health.
Mayor Spano stated, “The unhealthy, unprecedented air quality in the City of Yonkers, due to wildfires in Canada, could impact our vulnerable populations including children, the elderly, and those with pre-existing health issues. While wearing masks are not mandatory, I encourage those who need them to visit one of our precincts for the benefit of you and your family. In the meantime, I encourage our residents to stay indoors with the windows closed when possible. Thank you to Governor Hochul for distributing these masks and making the health and wellness of our residents a priority.”
Free N-95 masks are available to Yonkers residents, starting today while supplies last at the following locations:
· Yonkers Police – 1st Precinct: 730 East Grassy Sprain Road, (914) 377-7477
· Yonkers Police – 2nd Precinct: 441 Central Park Avenue, (914) 377-7452
