Con Edison is considering the development of a thermal energy network (TEN) in Mount Vernon, aiming to offer residents more environmentally friendly heating and cooling solutions while efficiently reducing carbon emissions. The initiative awaits approval from the New York State Public Service Commission.

Should the proposal receive the green light, Con Edison plans to build the TEN and supply new heating and cooling equipment at no cost to participating customers. Additionally, residential participants will benefit from free energy efficiency and electric upgrades as necessary.

The network is expected to function for at least five years. Throughout this period, Con Edison intends to cap customer energy bills so that they do not exceed what they would have been with existing heating and cooling systems.

Individuals who have received communication regarding the Mount Vernon thermal energy network may qualify for participation. To proceed with designing the TEN and assessing building eligibility, property access for a walkthrough is required.

For further information or inquiries about joining the project, interested parties can contact Mount Vernon Thermal Energy Network at 914-665-2300.
