White Plains High School senior Brandon Archer and Iona Prep senior Leo Kennedy were recognized as Youth of the Year by the White Plains Youth Bureau. The awards were presented at the White Plains Common Council meeting on January 5. Executive Director Frank Williams and Deputy Director Elizabeth Almonte of the Youth Bureau congratulated both students for their contributions to youth values in the city.
Archer and Kennedy are members of the Mayor’s Youth Council. Archer was honored with a National Community Service Award from the United Nations Association and is also a New York State My Brother’s Keeper Fellow. Last summer, he interned with the White Plains Planning Department and has plans to pursue a career in urban planning.
Kennedy has played an active role in the White Plains Youth Court, taking part in county-wide events as a representative of White Plains. He also organizes fundraising efforts for the Special Olympics and is interested in studying data science.
Both students have been recognized for their commitment to community service and leadership within White Plains.
