Westchester County has introduced a new web-based platform, HomeSeeker, designed to assist residents in finding affordable housing. The initiative was launched by County Executive Ken Jenkins and the Westchester County Department of Planning. The platform aims to simplify the process for individuals and families seeking affordable housing options.

County Executive Ken Jenkins emphasized the importance of the platform, stating: “HomeSeeker is your go-to resource for discovering affordable housing opportunities across the County. Whether you’re looking to stay in your own neighborhood or explore a new community, this platform will help identify open and available units, making the application process simpler and more accessible.” He highlighted that collaboration with developers and municipalities supports growth in privately owned developments offering quality, affordable housing.

The HomeSeeker platform allows registered users to receive updates on available housing units and notifications about workshops, information sessions, and open houses. Virtual information sessions on using HomeSeeker will be hosted by the Planning Department via WebEx.

Commissioner of Planning Blanca Lopez expressed her enthusiasm for the project: “After many months of collaboration with our colleagues from the Department of Information Technology, PruTech Solutions, and Westchester Residential Opportunities, we are thrilled to announce the launch of an enhanced version of HomeSeeker.” She noted that this development demonstrates strong partnerships aimed at advancing affordable housing initiatives.

Marguerite Beirne, Chief Information Officer of the Department of Information Technology, commented on their involvement: “DoIT was proud to partner with Commissioner Lopez and her dedicated team to support the County’s vision of increasing access to affordable housing information.”

Marlene Zarfes from Westchester Residential Opportunities praised the user-friendly nature of HomeSeeker: “HomeSeeker makes applying for affordable housing easier and more user-friendly.”

Jamal Abdo from PruTech Solutions described their role in developing HomeSeeker as an honor: “In partnership with the County of Westchester, PruTech Solutions developed the HomeSeeker platform to help residents more easily access affordable housing opportunities.”

The introduction of HomeSeeker reflects a commitment by Westchester County to leverage technology in improving access to essential resources for its residents.
