The Westchester County law enforcement community convened at the County Center in White Plains on Wednesday to honor fallen officers and recognize current officers for their exceptional service over the past year. The annual Police Memorial Service and Honor Awards ceremony was led by County Executive Ken Jenkins and Public Safety Commissioner Terrance Raynor.
During the ceremony, 93 names of officers who lost their lives in the line of duty in Westchester were read aloud, accompanied by taps played in their memory. Jenkins addressed those gathered, expressing gratitude to the award recipients and paying tribute to the sacrifices made by Westchester’s fallen heroes.
“We gather today in solemn remembrance of 93 law enforcement officers from Westchester who gave their lives in the service of others. Each one swore an oath to protect their communities — and each one paid for that commitment with their lives,” Jenkins stated. “It is our duty to never forget their sacrifice. It is our responsibility to remember the terrible price their loved ones paid. It is our prayer that we never have to add more names to this Roll of Honor.”
Officers from various departments were recognized for incidents and investigations occurring between April 1, 2024, and March 31, 2025. The award winners were chosen by a panel consisting of chiefs and commissioners from Westchester departments.
Awards for outstanding police work during two six-month periods ending September 30, 2024, and March 31, 2025, were presented at the event.
