Westchester County is reminding Bee-Line Bus riders about the various options for purchasing and refilling MetroCards to ensure smooth travel within the region and into New York City.

Riders using a MetroCard benefit from free transfers to another Bee-Line bus on a different route, as well as to New York City subways and local buses. For those paying with coins, paper transfers are available upon request but are only valid for two hours on buses and not on subways. It should be noted that there are no free transfers between the BxM4C express route and any other Bee-Line or NYC Transit route.

In cases where a MetroCard has insufficient fare, riders can insert it into the farebox and use exact change in coins to cover the difference. Bee-Line buses do not accept dollar bills or pennies.

Applications for Reduced Fare MetroCards can be obtained by calling the Bee-Line Information Center at (914) 813-7777. These applications require notarization and must be submitted in person at the MetroCard Van, as the County Center does not process these applications.

The county is also preparing for the introduction of OMNY, MTA’s new contactless fare payment system, to its Bee-Line Bus System. Until this system is fully implemented, MetroCards will remain essential for transfers between Bee-Line and NYC Transit services.

Some MetroCard products are being phased out during this transition period. Riders who receive notifications from MTA regarding changes to their MetroCard accounts should reach out to the Bee-Line at (914) 813-7777 or via email with any questions they may have.
