Westchester County has achieved the top spot in the nation for digital innovation within the 500,000 to 999,999 population category. This accolade comes from the 2025 Digital Counties Survey Awards, presented by the Center for Digital Government and the National Association of Counties (NaCo). The award highlights counties that excel in using technology to enhance services, improve cybersecurity, boost transparency, and offer innovative solutions for both residents and government functions.

The recognition places Westchester County among a select group of leading counties nationwide known for their commitment to modern and citizen-focused governance. The award acknowledges the efforts of County leadership and the Department of Information Technology (DoIT) team.

County Executive Ken Jenkins expressed pride in this achievement: “This recognition is a proud moment for Westchester County. It reflects our dedication to digital innovation and to making government more accessible, efficient and responsive for everyone we serve. We will continue to strive for collaboration and implementing best practices while championing new technologies and approaches that will help Westchester remain competitive and prepared well into the future.”

Marguerite Beirne, Chief Information Officer at DoIT, also acknowledged the collaborative effort: “This honor reflects the incredible teamwork and forward-thinking approach of our entire IT department. I want to especially thank the County Executive’s Office, the Board of Legislators and all the County departments we partner with to deliver meaningful results to our constituencies. Together, we are committed to using technology to create a more connected, secure and efficient government for everyone in our community.”

Westchester County led a competitive list of counties recognized for digital excellence.
