The Westchester County Youth Bureau has announced an opening for a youth leader aged between 13 and 21 to join the New York State Governor’s Youth Council for the 2025-2026 term. This council serves as a platform for young individuals to engage in dialogue with policymakers, addressing issues that affect youth within their communities.

Participants in the Governor’s Youth Council will meet virtually every two months with regional peers and representatives. Additionally, they will engage with state-wide peers at events led by youth. Only one candidate from each of New York’s 62 counties will be selected for this opportunity. Members are expected to offer recommendations on various issues to the Governor and other policymakers.

The focus areas for the upcoming term include youth mental health, social media impact on youth, justice, equity, diversity and inclusion, youth voice and engagement, and environmental impacts in communities.

Youth residing in Westchester County who wish to influence community issues can apply by June 4, 2025, through the NYS Governor’s Youth Council online portal. For further inquiries, interested individuals can contact the Westchester County Youth Bureau at 914-995-2745.
