The Westchester County Health Department has announced the closure of several beaches until further notice. This decision follows the collection of two separate samples on June 16 and June 18, 2025, which exceeded the bacteria density limits specified by NYSSC 6-2.15 (c)(1)(iii). The regulation states that there should be no more than 104 enterococci per 100ml of marine water.

The affected beaches will remain closed due to the continued presence of a Harmful Algae Bloom in the swimming areas. The health department is taking these measures to ensure public safety and prevent any potential health risks associated with high levels of bacteria and algae blooms.

Further updates will be provided as new information becomes available, and residents are advised to stay informed about beach conditions before planning any visits.
