The Westchester County Health Department has announced the closure of several beaches due to significant rainfall in the area. Over the past 24 hours, New Rochelle, Mamaroneck, and Rye have experienced 3.38 inches of rain.

In New Rochelle, Hudson Park Beach, Davenport Beach Club, Greentree Country Club, and Surf Club on the Sound are affected. Mamaroneck’s Harbor Island Park, Beach Point Club, Orienta Beach Club, and Mamaroneck Beach and Yacht Club are also closed. Additionally, Coveleigh Club in Rye is included in the closures.

Beachgoers are advised to avoid entering the water at these locations until further notice due to bacterial contamination from road runoff into drainage outfalls near these beaches. The County Health Department will reopen these areas once water quality meets New York State standards.

For updates on when it is safe to return to these beaches, visit the Westchester County website. The County emphasizes its commitment to maintaining high environmental health and safety standards at recreational facilities.
