Westchester County Police have arrested three individuals in connection with the recent arson and vandalism incident at Tarrytown Lighthouse in Sleepy Hollow. The suspects, aged 18 and 19, were arraigned in Sleepy Hollow Village Court and face charges of Arson 3rd Degree, Burglary 3rd Degree, and Criminal Mischief 2nd Degree. They are identified as Elvin Ayavaca from White Plains and Richard Barrero from Harrison.

A third suspect, a 17-year-old, was charged as a juvenile in Westchester County Court’s Youth Part. Due to his age, his identity remains undisclosed. Authorities are still searching for an additional suspect involved in the case.

The damage was reported around 9:40 a.m. on Saturday by a Westchester County Parks employee who noticed smoke, broken windows, and other property destruction upon arriving at the historic lighthouse on the Hudson River.

The Westchester County Parks Department is conducting a thorough damage assessment. Preliminary estimates suggest that damages could amount to approximately $100,000, though this figure may change. As a result of the incident, all public tours of the lighthouse have been suspended until further notice.
