Westchester County Executive Ken Jenkins marked American Red Cross Month by unveiling a Red Cross flag at the Michaelian Office Building. March is dedicated to recognizing local volunteers and donors who contribute their time and resources to assist community members during disasters.

Ken Jenkins stated: “This March, we proudly dedicate American Red Cross Month to honor the selfless individuals who support the Red Cross mission to prevent and alleviate human suffering in times of crisis. Their dedication — through donations of time, money, and blood — sustains vital services that strengthen our community. Last year alone, the Red Cross provided over 3,000 essential services to military members, veterans and their families in our region. We are grateful for this extraordinary spirit of compassion and resilience that defines our community and fuels the life-saving work of the American Red Cross."

Stephanie Dunn Ashley, CEO of the American Red Cross Metro NY North Chapter, commented: "During Red Cross Month, we are proud to recognize the individuals who represent the best of humanity by stepping up to care for our neighbors in times of crisis. The partnership we have with Westchester County to help support people experiencing disasters, collect life-saving blood, and support military service members and their families is a tremendous asset to every community. We are grateful to County Executive Ken Jenkins as well as everyone in Westchester County who helps carry out the vital humanitarian work of the Red Cross."

Over the past year, the Metro New York North Chapter responded to more than 100 local disasters. They installed over 2,000 free smoke alarms and educated nearly 2,300 adults and children on emergency preparedness. Additionally, they trained over 9,800 residents in First Aid/CPR/AED. The chapter also connected military members, veterans, and families with over 3,000 essential services while collecting an average of 9,000 units of blood from donors.
