Westchester County's Department of Environmental Facilities (DEF) will hold a second public meeting on March 12 at the County Center in White Plains. The session, from 7:30 to 9 p.m., aims to gather residents' opinions on waste reduction strategies.
The DEF is collaborating with Barton & Loguidice, a consulting firm, on a Waste Reduction Study designed to guide waste management efforts over the next decade. During the meeting, DEF and Barton & Loguidice will outline the study's objectives. Attendees will have up to two minutes each to share their views. Due to time constraints, pre-registration is encouraged at https://form.jotform.com/250545680113148.
Priority for speaking slots will be given to those who missed the first meeting on February 26. Individuals unable to attend can submit written comments until March 19 at 5 p.m. via https://form.jotform.com/250485123882156.
In December, DEF launched a Waste Reduction Survey as part of the study. This survey remains open for residents at https://arcg.is/GDn8u0 or through DEF's Facebook page.
The study also seeks input from local businesses. Business owners and managers in Westchester can contribute by visiting https://arcg.is/0aGWTW.
The Waste Reduction Study was initiated through funding included in the 2024 Refuse Disposal District budget by the Board of Legislators.
