Westchester County Executive George Latimer has announced the upcoming 42nd Annual Senior Citizens Hall of Fame Awards Celebration. The event, set for December 6 at the Westchester Marriott in Tarrytown, will honor 78 senior citizens from across the county. Among those recognized are Joan S. Bonsignore of Scarsdale and Jim Isenberg of White Plains, who will receive top honors.
Latimer expressed his appreciation for the contributions made by seniors to the community, stating, "I am honored to recognize this year’s group of seniors and induct them into our Westchester County Senior Citizens Hall of Fame." He highlighted the importance of acknowledging their efforts in improving the county's quality of life.
Mae Carpenter, Commissioner of the Westchester County Department of Senior Programs and Services (DSPS), also emphasized the significance of celebrating these achievements. "The Class of 2024 honorees have made a lasting impact on the County," she said.
The Senior Hall of Fame was established as part of Westchester County's 300th Anniversary celebrations to highlight seniors' contributions. Over four decades, nearly 1,600 individuals have been inducted based on their professional or volunteer work that enhances life in Westchester.
This year, special recognition will be given to Symra D. Brandon from Yonkers, Linda Cindrich from Mount Kisco, Hal B. Greenwald from Yonkers, and Harmon McAllister from Port Chester for their notable contributions.
The event is organized by DSPS along with Westchester Parks, Recreation and Conservation, and the Westchester Public/Private Partnership for Aging Services. NewYork-Presbyterian serves as an annual sponsor while Wartburg is a bronze sponsor.
