The City of Mount Vernon has provided an update on the progress made in improving its Buildings Department. This follows a series of recommendations from the Department of State aimed at enhancing departmental operations.

A letter from the Department of State, dated April 15, 2024, outlined several areas requiring attention. In response, the City of Mount Vernon issued a formal reply on August 14, 2024, detailing steps taken to address these concerns.

Subsequently, amended preliminary findings were released on August 27, 2024. These findings were followed by a comprehensive progress update from the city on September 24, 2024.
