The Conservation Commission announced on Mar. 25 the launch of the Rivertowns Earth Month Scavenger Hunt, a collaborative event involving conservation and environmental groups from Hastings-on-Hudson to Sleepy Hollow. The scavenger hunt will take place from March 29 through May 4, offering free, family-friendly gameplay with missions available in the Goosechase app for registered participants.

The event aims to engage residents in local ecology and sustainability efforts by encouraging them to answer trivia questions, solve riddles, and attend Earth Month festivities and stewardship projects across participating municipalities. Participants can register as individuals or teams and select which village they want to represent.

According to organizers, “the winning team will receive $500,” while additional prizes such as gift baskets with certificates and sustainable items will be awarded for achievements like funniest photos or greatest variety of completed missions. In addition, a sponsored $3,000 prize will be awarded to the village that earns the most points collectively among its players; this prize is designated for a local environmental project.

To assist participants during the scavenger hunt period, organizers have created resources including a Resilient Rivertowns Sustainability Map and a Calendar of Events. All events are open regardless of where participants live or which municipality they represent.

Registration is available at ResilientRivertowns.org. For further information or questions about participation, interested parties are encouraged to contact conservationcommission@hohny.gov.
