Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano and sculptor Barbara Segal have unveiled the restored public artwork at the Yonkers Sculpture Meadow, located at 20 Water Grant Street along the Hudson River. The sculpture park, established in 2003, is a permanent feature overlooking the river.
“These sculptures have become a staple along our waterfront, part of its evolving history in our City,” said Mayor Spano. “They connect people and that’s what public art is all about. We want to preserve what we are building here along the waterfront.”
Barbara Segal, who supervised the repair and restoration efforts and created the Cloud Living Room sculpture within the meadow, expressed appreciation for city support. “Thank you Mayor Mike Spano for your unwavering support of the arts in Yonkers and for restoring the sculpture park to its full glory in front of the majestic Hudson River. It’s wonderful to see it flourish once again for all to enjoy.”
The Yonkers Community Development Agency funded this restoration as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen urban art initiatives.
