Playland Amusement Park in Westchester County is set to open for the 2025 season with a special Memorial Day Weekend event. From Saturday, May 24 through Monday, May 26, visitors will have free access to admission, rides, and parking from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

County Executive Ken Jenkins commented on the efforts behind the opening: “Opening this park in time for Memorial Day Weekend wasn’t easy. It took hustle. It took late nights, early mornings, and a team of County employees who refused to give anything less than 100 percent.” He highlighted the collaborative effort involving various departments and external partners as crucial to the $150 million investment into Playland.

The park will offer eight out of its 21 rides for younger guests in Kiddyland. For thrill-seekers, five major attractions are available, including two newer rides. However, some popular attractions like the Dragon Coaster remain closed due to phased openings. Additionally, “Jack the Puppeteer,” one of the newer rides installed by Standard Amusements, is not operational due to mechanical issues.

Live entertainment is scheduled throughout Playland during the weekend. The Westchester Children’s Museum will also be accessible as an interactive learning space for families.

Visitors can enjoy free play at Playland’s Arcade Game Room and Basketball Game area near the Double Shot Ride during opening weekend. Food vendors from around Westchester will provide various culinary options alongside dining experiences at Tiki Beach Pier Restaurant.

This event marks another chapter in Playland’s long-standing tradition of providing fun and nostalgia each summer season.
