The New Rochelle Police Department held its annual Memorial and Awards Ceremony on May 14 at the Greentree Country Club. The event brought together city officials, police personnel, families, and community leaders to honor officers who died in the line of duty and to recognize the achievements of current department members.

Among those recognized were Detective Adalberto Aguilar as Police Officer of the Year, Detective Jon Bulfamante as New Rochelle Chamber of Commerce Investigator of the Year, Community Service Officer Latoya White as Civilian Employee of the Year, and Lieutenant Edward Hayes with the Community Engagement and Outreach Award.

“During this annual ceremony we honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty, and celebrate those who serve the department with distinction. Their courage and commitment deserve our respect and gratitude,” said Commissioner Robert Gazzola.

Other awards presented included the Arthur Luce Klein Award to Police Officers Christian Gonzalez and Leticia Lua; Empress Ambulance Lifesaving Award to Police Specialist John Care; and Police Commissioner’s Award to Detective Anthony Mirabile, along with Officers Gonzalez, Lua, and Tina Morzello.

Additional honors such as Class C Citations, Commendation Awards, Lifesaving Awards, Unit Citations, Perfect Attendance Awards ranging from one year up to twenty years, Citizen of the Year awards for Gabriel Alvaraez and Sofia Wylie, and recognition for student essay winners from Davis Elementary School and Columbus Elementary School were also given.

The ceremony highlighted both remembrance for fallen officers and appreciation for ongoing service within the department.
