The New Rochelle Fire Department held its annual Awards and Promotions Ceremony on October 15, honoring firefighters for their service and remembering those who lost their lives in the line of duty.

Mayor Ramos Herbert spoke at the event, thanking department members for their dedication. “who really run towards danger. All of the things we run away from, you do without question, with bravery and professionalism,” she said, acknowledging their commitment to the community.

City Manager Wilfredo Melendez also addressed attendees. “Every day, firefighters risk their lives to protect others,” he stated. “They respond without hesitation any time of the day, regardless of the weather, the danger in front of them. We celebrate that dedication, that courage, that extraordinary commitment that defines this department.”

Fire Commissioner and Chief Andy Sandor led the ceremony.
