Residents of Hastings-on-Hudson are being urged to remain indoors as Westchester County has extended its travel ban until noon due to ongoing severe weather. Mayor Thomas Drake commended the Department of Public Works crews for working overnight and continuing their efforts throughout the day and night to manage the storm’s impact.
Drake encouraged residents to thank these workers when possible, noting their dedication during challenging conditions. He also expressed gratitude toward essential workers who continue to serve the community despite hazardous weather.
Emergency services in the village, including the fire department, ambulance corps, and police department, remain active in responding to incidents. Recently, they addressed a situation involving downed wires at Farragut Parkway and High Street, which resulted in several power outages. Residents experiencing outages are advised to report them directly to Con Edison through its website or outage reporting system.
Mayor Drake reminded everyone: “Please continue to stay safe, check on neighbors who may need assistance, and, if you are able, help clear snow from nearby fire hydrants. Thank you.”
