The Hastings Conservation Commission announced on Apr. 20 that it will participate in the annual Riverkeeper Sweep, scheduled for May 2 from 3 to 5 p.m. at River Glen Cove, located at 1 River St.

The event is part of a larger effort organized by Riverkeeper to clean up the Hudson River, with activities taking place from Troy to New York City. The local initiative invites community members to help clean up both River Glen Cove and the shoreline of MacEachron Park and nearby areas.

This marks the fifteenth year that Hastings has taken part in the program since its start in 2012. Organizers say volunteers can follow signs to the entrance at River Glen Cove for participation details.

After the cleanup, participants are invited to Maud’s for refreshments between 5 and 6 p.m., where sweepers will receive a coupon for one free Stella beer valid only on May 2. The event will take place rain or shine.

More information about the event is available on the village website: http://hohny.gov.
