Sugar Pond in Hastings is temporarily closed for skating because the ice is too thin. The Hastings Recreation Department stated that skating will only be allowed when the ice reaches at least six inches thick.

Parks staff will keep checking the ice and send updates about the pond’s status by email. Residents are asked to stay off the ice until it is confirmed safe.

“We appreciate your cooperation and urge all residents to exercise caution and stay off the ice until it is deemed safe,” said officials from the Hastings Recreation Department.

More information can be found on the official village website.
