A blizzard warning has been issued for the Village of Hastings-on-Hudson, with a snow emergency declared starting Sunday, February 22, 2026 at noon. The National Weather Service expects blizzard conditions to continue until Monday, February 23 at 6 p.m., with projected snowfall between 13 and 18 inches and wind gusts up to 55 mph.
As a result of the storm, all village offices will be closed on Monday. Activities at the James Harmon Community Center are canceled, and the Hastings Public Library will remain closed both Sunday and Monday. Garbage pickup scheduled for Monday and Tuesday is also canceled. Alternate Side of the Street parking rules will be enforced on Monday to facilitate snow removal.
Residents are instructed to remove vehicles from specific public streets by noon on Sunday to aid plowing efforts. Designated off-street parking lots are available for use during the emergency. The Chief of Police is authorized to issue further directives as needed for public safety.
The village urges residents not to call police regarding street plowing schedules, reminding them that main roads are cleared first. People are also advised not to shovel snow back into streets or onto neighbors’ property and to keep fire hydrants clear when possible. Sidewalks should be shoveled within 12 hours after snowfall ends.
In case of power outages, residents should contact Con Edison directly rather than calling police. Downed wires should be reported immediately but not touched or approached due to safety risks. Emergency situations should be reported via 911 only.
The forecast calls for heavy snow beginning Sunday morning with temperatures near freezing and significant wind chills. Snowfall may intensify overnight into Monday before tapering off by early afternoon. Conditions are expected to improve by Tuesday with mostly sunny skies.
