Applications for the 29th annual Summer Sounds Concert Series in New Rochelle will open on January 19, according to the New Rochelle Council on the Arts (NRCA). Bands interested in performing can submit their applications online until February 24 at 11:59 PM. No late or alternative submissions will be considered.
The concert series is held every Wednesday and Friday evening from 7:30 to 9 pm at Hudson Park’s historic band shell, located on the Long Island Sound. The event attracts hundreds of attendees each summer, offering a range of live music performances. Musicians who are selected will receive payment and benefit from provided sound equipment, technical support, lighting, and curated food trucks at each show.
Professional musicians across all genres are encouraged to apply. Applicants must have experience performing live and need to include a link to a recent performance as well as a professional-quality photo for promotional use. The selection process is competitive; last year, 190 bands applied for only 19 available slots.
Vin Parise, Commissioner of New Rochelle’s Department of Parks & Recreation, stated: “The Summer Sounds Concert Series every summer at Hudson Park is one of the most highly attended public events on our calendar year after year. We are thrilled to once again partner with NRCA for this annual tradition along our waterfront.”
The concert series began in 1997 through efforts by Emil Paolucci and continues as a collaboration between NRCA and the city’s Department of Parks and Recreation. Funding comes partly from local business sponsors. In recent years, grants have enabled upgrades such as a new sound system and improved stage lighting.
Bands selected to perform will be notified in April. Performances run from late June through August on Wednesdays and Fridays.
